Our SWIDA-RINGS expedition continues to make remarkable progress, moving swiftly across Antarctic locations. Motivated by an incredible experience that mixes science and adventure, we are capitalizing on every favorable weather window, systematically surveying the glaciers along the continent’s grounding line.
Overnight Location (08-December): Atka Bay
Departing from Halley VI station on the morning of December 8th, we flew to Aboa station, maintaining our momentum. From Aboa, we pressed onward to Atka Bay, home to the famous penguin colony near Neumayer III Base. This strategic location was crucial for our rapid advancement, positioning us perfectly for a quick refueling at Neumayer station on the afternoon of December 9th.
Our expedition’s pace reflects both careful planning and opportunistic flying, taking full advantage of the good weather windows of suitable Antarctic conditions. Each successful leg of our journey brings us closer to our comprehensive glacial survey objectives.
